Los Angeles

I'm here! I'm here! And I saw my first gang-banger get arrested yesterday so I feel like a total Angeleno.

I'm getting ready to go to the gym (again, like a total Angeleno!) so I will update later about my run-ins with Alexander Skarsgard, Pauly Shore, and Jeremy or Jason London (I'm not sure which one it was and seeing if I could force him to do drugs to find out seemed unfair. Besides, as it turned out, he was telling the truth?)

Anyhoo, I've got a lot to tell you about gardening! (Did you know if you get dirt wet it turns into mud? Yuck.)

And bumpers! (They don't bump off anything... they go, "Scraaaaaaaatch!")

And there's probably more but, again, I have to go because I have to get to the gym!

Captain America

Go see Captain America this weekend! Support our Colin!

I went to the premiere on Tuesday and it was the coolest thing ever. First, the movie is AMAZING and Chris Evans is a superstar. Second, there were so many damn people there it was insane. I have been to movie premieres in New York before and they were nothing like this. I mean, they closed down Hollywood Boulevard. I would've taken photos to show you, but the invite said to leave phones in the car. But here's a photo of me in my cool Captain America 3D glasses:

(Sit down, stop jumping around, it's an awesome picture, I know. And the quality is amazing. It's not grainy or reddish... it's perfect.) (No, it's not.)

(And you can totally see the Captain America logo on the side of the glasses.) (No, you can't.)

Anyway, Captain America is pulling a strong 71% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes right now so GO SEE IT! IT'S FANTASTIC!

Screenwriter Nora Ephron Is 'Gravely Ill'

'When Harry Met Sally ... ' and 'Sleepless In Seattle' writer is not expected to survive the night, TMZ reports.
By Josh Wigler

Nora Ephron
Photo:

Nora Ephron, the writer of iconic romantic comedies "When Harry Met Sally ... " and "Sleepless in Seattle" among other hit films, is reportedly "gravely ill" and "not expected to make it through the night."

TMZ reports that family members are currently telling close friends of the writer/director "there is little hope that [Ephron] will recover from her current condition." The nature of her illness is not currently known, though it's been reported that Ephron is suffering from leukemia.

Word of Ephron's condition first hit the Internet on Tuesday (June 26) by way of an article published by journalist Liz Smith, a close friend of the legendary Hollywood screenwriter. In the column, Smith writes about Ephron as though she has already passed away, praising her friend's "grave" and "unexpected" humor.

"She never gave the answer I expected to anything. She was grave in her humor, which made it deadly, unexpected, truly funny and dauntingly intelligent," wrote Smith. "She seemed never to want or expect anything, while always demanding the best from the rest of us. She was — always — right and somehow left the smartest, most ambitious and silliest of us in the dust at her feet."

Shortly after publication of Smith's column, Ephron's former close friend Margo Howard wrote on Twitter: "A very accomplished writer died. Nora Ephron, from cancer."

Ephron's publisher Knopf later told The New York Times that Ephron is "still alive," according to a tweet from Times writer Julie Bosman. Knopf rep Elizabeth Lindsay said as much in a statement to the Atlantic Wire: "It's pretty critical. She's not doing well, but she's certainly alive ... The report she has passed away is not correct."

Stay tuned to MTV News for further updates on Ephron's condition.

'Catching Fire': Jena Malone In Running To Play Johanna

Mia Wasikowska is reportedly no longer being considered for role in 'Hunger Games' sequel.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

Jena Malone
Photo:

Fans of "The Hunger Games" have been keeping a close eye on two yet-to-be-cast roles in the upcoming sequel "Catching Fire" as the follow-up gets ready to move into production. Rumors about the part of Finnick Odair have floated around for months, but talk about who might be cast as Johanna Mason has only picked up this week.

The latest word on who might play the former champion for District 7 comes from Entertainment Weekly, which is reporting that Jena Malone is in the running for the role.

Last week, the first rumors about the role began to circulate. According to the Playlist, both Mia Wasikowska and model Zoe Aggeliki were in the mix for Johanna. In its report about Malone, EW also confirmed that Wasikowska was neither in the running nor able to fit "Catching Fire" into her schedule.

Malone, who recently appeared in the wildly popular "Hatfields & McCoys" miniseries, is 27 years old, making her the appropriate age to play Johanna, who Katniss at one point describes as being like a big sister, albeit one who hates her.

Johanna is a master of manipulation. She won her first tournament by pretending to be weak and non-threatening until there were fewer tributes left in the arena. Seizing the opportunity, she revealed herself as a proficient killer. When she first meets Katniss in the arena, she memorably strips naked in order to make Jennifer Lawrence's character uncomfortable.

No new additions to the cast have been officially announced for the Francis Lawrence-directed sequel to this year's massive blockbuster. Lionsgate is not currently commenting on casting.

"Catching Fire" will open in theaters on November 22, 2013.

Lana Del Rey Channels Jackie O In New 'National Anthem' Still

Photos from Anthony Mandler-directed clip also tease Lana looking like Marilyn Monroe, but leave A$AP Rocky as JFK a mystery.
By Jocelyn Vena

Lana Del Rey in "National Anthem"
Photo:

Lana Del Rey is doing her best Jackie O in a new still from her "National Anthem" video. She's got the former First Lady's look down to the very last detail, including that pillbox hat.

In one still from the clip, posted on her Facebook, Lana sits in the back of a convertible, in her little suit, her veiled hat and her hair down. She looks back, possibly in the moments after President Kennedy, who will be portrayed by A$AP Rocky in the video, gets shot on that famous November day in 1963. Her eyes are covered with some of the lyrics from the track, "Red white blue in the skies," and more lyrics, "Summer's in the air/ And baby heaven's in your eyes," are scrolled across the bottom of the photo.

In another still from the Anthony Mandler-directed video, Lana stands in a long white gown at some sort of presidential affair. She looks a bit more Marilyn Monroe in this shot, channeling the actress' look when she famously sang "Happy Birthday" to President Kennedy. This time, the lyric "Tell me I'm your National Anthem" is written on the photo.

In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Lana revealed why she wanted play Jacqueline Kennedy and recreate that historical time in her 10-minute video. "Every so often, I top what I've done, and this video is definitely the most beautiful thing I've ever done," she said. "I wrote a treatment for me and A$AP Rocky, because I just thought he'd be really perfect to star in it. ... I love it."

As for her better half in the video, the MC shared some details in a separate interview, noting that it might take a few years for people to really digest what they've committed to celluloid. "We did a video together ... some swag sh--," he said. "I play JFK, she plays Jackie O. Some cool, trippy sh--, some really 2015 sh--. People gonna get it in like three years, and that's the whole purpose of it."

With no word on when the video will drop, fans will have to wait a little longer to see A$AP do his best Kennedy. "National Anthem" is the latest single off Del Rey's 2012 album, Born to Die.

SpaceGhostPurrp And A$AP Rocky Rift: Beyond Repair?

It was all good just a week ago, but now SpaceGhostPurrp and A$AP Rocky are at odds.
By Rob Markman

SpaceGhostPurrp
Photo:

It was all good just a week ago, but now SpaceGhostPurrp and his Raider Klan have fallen out with A$AP Rocky and the A$AP Mob.

Purrp — who was responsible for producing Rocky's "Keep It G" and "Pretty Flacko" and rhymed alongside Rock on "Purple Swag: Chapter 2" — sat with MTV News in May and broke down his relationship with the A$AP Mob, but last week, he revealed in a YouTube video that their union is no longer.

"We Raider Klan, man. We got our own sh-- going on. And that's how the f--- it is. We ain't A$AP," SpaceGhost said in the video, which has since been taken down. "I showed love to them n---as last year and some sh-- went down and we don't f--- with each other no more."

It was a different story from the one Purrp told MTV News when he sat down with us in May. "Me and the Mob, we reached out to each other through the Internet. We showed love to each other. We had a good time," he said of his A$AP relationship, which has since soured. "I came up to New York and met up with him, we got to know each other real well, and then we just became a little family.

"I'm affiliated with A$AP. If I see him, we still do our handshake, we still got love, we're real close homeys," he added.

Still, Purrp — who released his debut album, Mysterious Phonk: The Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp, last week — has always made a clear distinction between the A$AP Mob and his Raider Klan crew, which originated in his hometown of Miami.

The beef is said to have started after Rocky's groupmate, A$AP Twelvyy, got into an altercation with Matt Stoops from Purrp's Raider Klan. Music site Mostly Junk Food has posted screen shots of deleted SpaceGhost tweets in which he accuses Twelvyy of attacking Stoops.

While the beef does sound serious, Purrp told MTV News of a misunderstanding that he and Wiz Khalifa had prior to working together on Wiz's Taylor Allderdice mixtape. Maybe after a conversation, he and Rocky can reach a similar accord.

Do you believe SpaceGhostPurrp and A$AP Rocky can work out their differences? Let us know in the comments.

Kelis Reacts To Nas' Life Is Good Album Cover

'I can respect that he wears his feelings on his sleeve,' Kelis says of cover featuring her green wedding dress.
By Rob Markman

Nas' Life is Good album cover
Photo:

If you were expecting Kelis to scream "I hate you so much right now" after seeing ex-hubby Nas' Life Is Good album cover, then you have the "Milkshake" singer all wrong.

For the cover of his upcoming solo LP, Nas posed with Kelis' green wedding dress, the only item she left behind when she and the Queens rapper split. "My feelings about it are not really relevant, but at the end of the day, Nas is an artist and for whatever it's worth, he's one of the greatest — especially for what it is that he does," Kelis told NME.com about the album cover during an interview at the Isle of Wight Festival in England this past weekend.

Nas first spoke on the significance of the dress when VH1 profiled the usually private MC on their "Behind the Music" special. "She took her stuff out of the house and left her green wedding dress. And that was all she left," he said.

"It clicked right there. You're saying it even in your interview. It's like a given that this should allude to this being on the cover, that statement," Nas told MTV News on June 12. "Some things you can't plan, they happen."

The veteran MC likened himself to an old blues musician, an endearing quality that his ex-wife appreciates. "I feel like, especially someone in hip-hop to really kinda be genuine and honest, whatever the honesty is about, I think it's awesome," she said. "My feelings about it aren't really necessarily valid, it's just the fact that as an artist, I can respect that he wears his feelings on his sleeve. I like that."

Life Is Good is due out July 17.

What is your favorite Nas album cover? Let us know in the comments!

'Catching Fire': Wait, Is Romeo Joining The Cast?!

Romeo Miller tells MTV News he's already met with Lionsgate about possibly appearing in one of the 'Hunger Games' flicks.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

Romeo
Photo:

Romeo Miller (formerly known as Lil' Romeo) has racked up an impressive number of credits in the decade or so that he's been acting. As the 22-year-old makes moves in his career as an adult actor, Romeo has his eyes set on one franchise in particular.

One of Miller's ideal projects would be a trip to Panem for "The Hunger Games," he told MTV News during a recent interview for "Madea's Witness Protection." In fact, he's already met with Lionsgate to discuss the possibility.

Although he got his start as the rap star son of Master P, Miller has been acting for years now. "A lot of people don't know I've been doing this for 10 years now," he said. "I felt that all of that was practice, leading up to the time now."

But for his next roles, Miller has his sights set on an acting career similar to Will Smith. "I want to be the next big action hero or I want to do a lot of romantic type movies, romantic comedies, a little bit of everything, but definitely the next action hero," Miller said, and then added, "You can see me in 'The Hunger Games' or something like that. Just throwing that out there."

Though he admitted to not being very familiar with Suzanne Collins' books, Miller confirmed that there has been some discussion about possibly joining "Catching Fire," which is currently casting.

"I actually just met with Lionsgate about that, so you may be seeing me in one of the 'Hunger Games.' That's all I'm saying," Miller said. "Not a particular role, we just had a meeting, seeing if it was something I was interested in. I can't really talk too much, or they'll kill me. You know how 'The Hunger Games' is."

Who should Romeo play in "Catching Fire"? Leave your comment below!

Tony Parker Suing WIP Over Fight

Tony Parker, who I call the former Mr. Longoria, is now suing the club that had the huge fight with Drake and Chris Brown. As we reported earlier, a few people not involved in the fight got hurt by flying bottles, etc. One of those people was the NBA star himself. He actually got shards of glass in his eyes and might even lose his shot at playing in the Olympics. The first thing you have to wonder is why a rich guy would sue for so much money. Yes, some wealthy people don’t mind adding a few more zeroes onto their bank accounts just for fun. But in this case his career could really be affected. Parker is making some serious money in the NBA right now, and the glass that he says hit is eye caused some pretty serious damage. He is apparently not able to play basketball right now, and might lose his spot on the French Olympic team because of the injury. The only strange thing to me is that he isn’t suing the people involved in the fight, but he is actually suing the night club itself. The whole purpose is that he feels the [...]

'Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World': The Reviews Are In!

Cataclysmic comedy starring Keira Knightley and Steve Carell has critics divided.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

Patton Oswalt and Steve Carell in "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World"
Photo:

Critics are decidedly split on Lorene Scafaria's "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" and whether its cataclysmic hijinks are cute or phony.

Here is our roundup of reviews for "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World."

The Story
"At least it's an ambitious misfire from the filmmaker, screenwriter Lorene Scafaria making a rocky directing debut. The movie ponders what people would do with their final days if the end were a fait accompli. Will anarchy reign or will humanity win out? Will Dodge (Carell) and Penny (Knightley), relative strangers living in the same apartment building, find each other, and love, before the planet and the asteroid collide? Or will they die alone? Lots of potential for a really tragic love story — from here to eternity, literally." — Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times

Steve Carell
"The sad sack in question is Dodge, a New York insurance salesman played by Steve Carell with the air of melancholy that serves, in his big-screen roles, as the functional equivalent of a 'Don't Call Me Michael Scott' T-shirt. Mr. Carell has a penchant for wounded and wistful romantic roles. Here, as in 'Dan in Real Life' and 'Crazy, Stupid, Love,' he is a nebbishy guy so far out of the Darwinian sexual rat race that he becomes irresistible to women." — A.O. Scott, The New York Times

Keira Knightley
"Penny feels equally underwritten, which leaves the awkward sight of Knightley, evidently still stuck in 'A Dangerous Method' mode, straining to appear girl-next-door cute while her facial expressions scream 'mental patient.' "— Peter Debruge, Variety

The Director
"Screenwriter Lorene Scafaria (the similarly fey 'Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist') is over her head in her feature directing debut, unable to establish a consistent tone in a movie that flirts with black comedy, satire, romantic comedy and touchy-feely earnestness without really delivering any of them." — Lou Lumenick, New York Post

The Final Word
"What it doesn't have is a way of making sense of its comic and dramatic strains, together, in the same movie. Carell and Knightley work hard to bring life and truth to each stage of a dawning friendship. By the end, though, Dodge and Penny have had one too many affirming encounters that feel engineered, not lived." — Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune

Tony Parker Files $20 Million Suit Over Drake/Chris Brown Club Brawl

Suit against W.i.P. club was filed on Monday in connection with injuries NBA star suffered in the melee.
By Gil Kaufman

Tony Parker
Photo:

One of the most high-profile victims to emerge from the shattered glass wreckage of the nightclub brawl
between members of Chris Brown and Drake's crews at New York nightclub W.i.P. has filed a multimillion-dollar suit against the SoHo night spot.

San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker, claims in a $20 million lawsuit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court earlier this week that the club's owners are responsible for the "corneal laceration of the left eye and other injuries," according to the New York Post.

A spokesperson for the club told MTV News on Friday (June 22) that they were unable to comment on the suit because they have not yet been served with any papers. In addition, the club, whose owner, Jonathan Cantor, was arrested on unrelated charges
tied to two outstanding warrants, continues to be closed on a temporary basis.

Parker's suit claims that W.i.P.'s owners should have known better than to let the two romantic rivals for Rihanna's affection into the club at the same time. Lawyer David Jaroslawicz added that the extent of Parker's injuries are not yet known, but that eye injuries "certainly don't improve your outside shot." The NBA star and one of the key members of the championship team is slated to play for his native France in this summer's Olympics.

Neither musician is named in the lawsuit, but it does mention them as being the catalyst for the fight. "The defendants were reckless, careless and negligent in permitting Drake's entourage and Brown's entourage to be in the club at the same time despite known tension between the two," the suit reads. "She's been known, like Helen of Troy, to cause trouble," Jaroslawicz said of Rihanna.

According to the suit, Parker wasn't sitting with either party, but has said he was with "my friend Chris Brown" when the troubles started and claimed that he and his friends took some blows before "they started throwing bottles everywhere."

The baller said he's been sidelined for a week as he recuperates from the injury with the help of a "therapeutic" contact lens. While he said his eye felt better at first, it began to hurt when he landed in France to practice with his team for the games, forcing him to visit the ER for more treatment. "I'll be missing the start of the French team because I can't do anything for a week except keep the lens in and then take drops," he told the paper.

Police have not made any arrests over the incident, but they have subpoenaed the security tapes from the club and are reviewing them.

OK, this isn't exactly our first glimpse of the Denali coven member, as she made a brief appearance at Bella and Edward's nuptials during "Breaking Dawn - Part 1." But her role in the series finale is profound enough to warrant a mention. You see, it's Irina who tells the Volturi that the Cullens have supposedly created an immortal child — the result of biting a youngster, freezing them in a perpetual adolescence. Of course, we know that Renesmee is a rare vampire-human hybrid, having been conceived by Bella and Edward. The Volturi don't know that, though, so they set off to exact punishment for the high crime.

Lee Pace as Garrett

No, that isn't Mark Wahlberg reprising his "Rock Star" role, it's "Pushing Daisies" actor Lee Pace looking all kinds of scruffy as nomadic vampire Garrett. (No room for a blow-dryer on the road, I guess!) Unlike many of the assembled immortals, Garrett doesn't have a special talent — except maybe fortitude, as his ability to endure fellow vampire Kate's powers stops her from attacking the Volturi and inciting a blood bath. In the trailer, it looks as though Garrett may have already aligned himself with the Denali coven before the events of "Breaking Dawn," which would be a departure from Stephenie Meyer's source material.

Rami Malek as Benjamin

One of the more intriguing moments from the latest look is Benjamin's rather damp display of talent. The Egyptian coven member can control the elements and does so in grand fashion, bending a swath of water to his will. Like Bella, Benjamin spends a great deal of time during "Part 2" practicing and harnessing his abilities for use against the Volturi.

Joe Anderson as Alistair

The blond bloodsucker you see sparingly throughout the trailer is English vamp Alistair, a longtime friend of Carlisle Cullen. Alistair spends most of his time sulking in the attic and disappears before the Volturi arrive. Seeing as he gets a few good looks here, it wouldn't be unreasonable to think he might stick around for the final face-off in this iteration.

Judith Shekoni as Zafrina and Tracey Heggins as Senna

Zafrina and Senna, along with maker Kachiri, comprise the Amazon coven. Zafrina boasts the ability to create vivid illusions and spends time entertaining Renesmee with her mental images. But it's Kachiri (not seen in the trailer) who helps Alice and Jasper track down important immortal-children evidence to present to the Volturi in the Cullens' defense. "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" hits theaters November 16.

Rihanna Adds Animated Film To Her Growing Hollywood Resume

Singer will appear alongside Jim Parsons in 'Happy Smekday!' based on a novel by Adam Rex.

Rihanna battled some bad aliens in "Battleship," but now it seems she'll be tackling a much friendlier extraterrestrial life form in her animated flick, "Happy Smekday!" She's set to play the lead alongside "Big Bang Theory" Emmy-winner Jim Parsons.

The flick, based on Adam Rex's book "The True Meaning of Smekday," follows an alien race who come to Earth to hide away from their enemies. When one of the aliens accidentally spills the beans about their hideout to the bad guys, he must go on the run with a teenage girl. The twosome then goes on a road trip through a dystopian America, learning about humanity along the way.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is slated for a 2014 release. "Antz" and "Over the Hedge" director Tim Johnson will helm the DreamWorks Animation project, with "Get Smart" screenwriters Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember penning the script.

It's just another film credit for Ri, who has begun her transition from singer to singer/actress. Ever since her appearance in "Battleship," roles have been steadily coming her way.

"I got a few scripts, actually, a lot of incredible roles," she told MTV News recently. "Some of which I felt were a little too big for me, being that I never did a movie. So I wanted to really get my feet wet, try it, see what it was like and know how I wanted to move from there. I'm really glad 'Battleship' turned out to be the first one."

She was recently spotted on the set of "End of the World," confirming her long-rumored cameo in the Seth Rogen comedy.

She shot down chatter that she would play Whitney Houston in a biopic of her life, and her rep recently denied rumors that she would be in the next "Fast and The Furious."

Lindsay Lohan Driving Ban During ?Liz & Dick?

Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan reportedly isn?t allowed to drive while she currently films her role in the Lifetime movie ?Liz & Dick. The movie’s production has also come under fire after the Parent Trap star fell unconscious due to her demanding film schedule.   Actress Lindsay Lohan, who is attempting to make yet another comeback, has racked up so many DUI?s it is said to be in her best interest to sustain from getting behind the wheel until production on the Elizabeth Taylor biopic, ?Liz & Dick?, ends, in accordance with an insurance policy taken out by the production. The policy is in part said to ensure that Lohan doesn?t pull any of her usual antics, holding up filming on the TV movie. The actress’ recent fender bender where she crashed her Porsche into a semi truck was said to be a red flag. The rule, according to TMZ, was put in place by the insurance policy. The production has also caught the attention of the labor organizations International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and SAG-AFTRA, after Lohan was found unconscious this past June 15th as well as after multiple reports of exhaustion of both cast and crew. “The [...]

Justin Bieber Headed For Year's Biggest Debut With Believe

Singer's second full-length studio album of original material predicted to sell more than 410,000.
By Gil Kaufman, with additional reporting by Jocelyn Vena

You'd be a fool to expect Justin Bieber to debut anywhere but the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 album chart next week. But experts are predicting that not only will JB top the tally, but he's headed for his best first-week ever and the likely crown of the year's biggest debut.

According to Billboard, Believe
is on course to move between 410,000-440,000 units by the end of the reporting week on Sunday. If Bieber reaches those heights, he will move past the year's biggest debut to date, Madonna's MDNA, which opened with 359,000. Those kinds of numbers would also give Bieber his biggest first frame so far, beating the debut of 2010's My World 2.0, which moved 291,000 units in its first week.

Before the expected numbers hit, Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, was already feeling bullish about the prospects. "I think it's gonna do well because I think people are really giving it a shot," he said of the album that critics have been praising for its maturity. "At the same time, I think that's my biggest hope that people judge him on the music. That they go and they listen to the album and they don't go in with any expectations. There's a lot of hype around him because of who he is and just shut your eyes, put on your headphones, and put on the music and then just decide if this album is worthy of your time."

Bieber is also hustling hard to make sure he makes the biggest impact possible with Believe, from his drama-filled
prime-time NBC special to an MTV "Bieber Live"
show that harkened back to the old "Total Request Live"
era that helped make Timberlake a superstar. Those appearances, plus his worldwide promo tour and a string of co-signs from some of raps biggest names, could help Bieber land the biggest debut sales week
 of the year.

Even though he's burning the oil to get the word out to as many people as possible, Bieber is adamant about not sacrificing his art in the process. "I was very involved in the process [of making this album] -- I played instruments, produced, wrote -- so I want people to know it's not all hype," he said during the "Live"
show. "I want people to know I've been working hard on my music. Focus on the music. Don't think I'm just this product pushed out there. I work hard, and music is really important to me. I see a lot of hate online, which is inevitable, but at the end of the day, I'm just trying to prove them wrong by making good music."

Maybe he's a bit biased (okay, of course he is), but Braun said that if people follow his advice and give Bieber a fair shake, "I think nine-and-three-fourths out of 10 people will say yes." We will find out on Wednesday when the new Billboard 200 is revealed.

HGTV, LA and Dining Room Tables

I've been watching a lot of HGTV since coming to LA. My favorite shows are House Hunters and House Hunters International. There's also another show I like to watch called For Rent, but only because it makes me angry.

When it comes to apartments/homes, I think living in New York for the past eleven years has made me bitter because there was this whiny broad on For Rent a few nights ago who was looking at a huge place—A HUGE PLACE—and was like, "There's no place for a dining room table..."

B*TCH, YOU'RE LUCKY TO GET A KITCHEN IN NEW YORK.

I hated her.

Now there's some stupid lady on House Hunters who wants a townhouse with a fireplace that she can turn on with a light switch. IT HAS TO BE A LIGHT SWITCH because she doesn't want to bend down and flip a switch on the floor.

WHO DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE?

Anyway, I know my LA update is WAY overdue (and truth be told I wrote a long one last week but for some reason it didn't save so I lost the whole thing and I was so angry that I just said, "Ah, f*ck it," and closed the computer instead of rewriting) but to give you a quick update, I AM SO HAPPY HERE. I MEAN, I'M REALLY, REALLY HAPPY. And I think living here and watching HGTV—both of these things combined—has made me realize that New York was just beating me down. I mean, the fireplace lady—yes, she's an idiot. But there's nothing wrong with wanting a dining room table. Why did I get so mad at that lady?

Since being here, at least once a day I ask myself why I have lived in New York for so long. (It's like I had Stockholm Syndrome or something.) CALIFORNIA IS AWESOME. It's like the promised land. It's sunny all the time and there are birds and flowers everywhere. I have space out here. I have a sofa on the patio out here. I HAVE A SOFA OUTSIDE. I haven't seen one rat since I've been here. But hummingbirds? THEY ZIP BY MY HEAD EVERY DAY. I am so happy.

I'm supposed to go back to New York in November, but truth be told, I'm not sure I will.

'Catching Fire' Casting Rumors: Hunter Parrish Weighs In

'Weeds' actor, who was up for the role of Peeta in 'Hunger Games,' tells MTV News he'd 'love' to play Finnick in the sequel.
By Kara Warner

Our fellow "Hunger Games" fans will likely recall the fact that the casting process for the first film garnered more than a few headlines, particularly regarding the roles of Katniss, Peeta and Gale. Now that those roles have long been filled and the movie has gone on to break box-office records, we have been focused on the casting rumors around its sequel, "Catching Fire."

While Lionsgate hasn't made any announcements about who will join the cast for the sequel, particularly as fan-favorite character Finnick Odair, that hasn't stopped the rumor mill from churning out likely prospects. One of the fan-supported candidates is "Weeds" actor Hunter Parrish, who was also an early favorite to play Peeta until Josh Hutcherson won the role.

When MTV News caught up with Parrish recently to discuss the release of his first single, "Sitting at Home," we couldn't help but ask for his thoughts on the franchise and also being considered for Finnick.

"This whole 'Hunger Games' thing, man ... I've read all of the books, because I've been through this once before," Parrish said. "It was very exciting for me [to be considered] for the first movie, to be a part of that, and I read all of the books at that time, and I loved the script and the director and Jennifer Lawrence who was cast at that point. I saw it as something very exciting, and I was very excited about it, but it wasn't [meant to be]. Josh is also a friend of mine, and I haven't seen the film yet, but people say amazing things about it, and he's great, he's perfect. We've worked together before, and he's a great actor," Parrish said sincerely.

While Parrish is grateful for the fan support behind the Finnick campaign, his experience from the first round of casting has him feeling more cautious about things this time around.

"I kind of dove in for that one, so for this one, I don't know," he said. "I think you just kind of step back, and if it happens, it happens. I'm not going to really spend too much time thinking about it, but I'd love to. I wouldn't cast myself, but that's not helping me getting cast for that movie," he joked. "But I'm a fan of the books. I think there's fantastic actors that would probably be better. So there's that for getting me a job!"

In continuing with his gracious thoughts about other actors he'd consider for Finnick, we asked Parrish if he wanted to give a shout-out to any for fun.

"No, I wouldn't go that far!" he laughed. "I still want the job, I'm just saying ... "
