'Bourne Legacy' Star Jeremy Renner Talks 'Replacing' Matt Damon

'There's similarities and then there's differences,' Renner says of his character vs. Damon's Jason Bourne.

When it comes to up-and-coming action stars, Jeremy Renner is the man to watch. He dabbled in the action genre with films like "The Hurt Locker," "The Town" and "28 Weeks Later," but the Academy Award nominee is going to get pretty hard-core with his next four films. In "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," Renner plays a supporting role to Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt, but soon he will also have the weight of the "Bourne" franchise on his shoulders.

Renner is currently filming "The Bourne Legacy," the first "Bourne" film in the series that doesn't feature Matt Damon. Despite the fact that he is taking over the franchise from its former leading man, Renner said there are no hard feelings between the two of them. In fact, Damon has been nothing but supportive of the whole process.

"He's always been so complimentary to me from the moment I met him. Such a great guy," Renner said. "I met him from 'The Town,' obviously, 'cause of him and Ben [Affleck] being best buds. I met him first at the Academy Awards, actually, for 'The Hurt Locker.' He sat in front of me, and he saw 'The Town' before I saw it and said he loved it. He's a very, very complimentary, loving dude."

The duo met up recently in New York, where Renner said they did end up talking about the "Bourne" franchise. But instead of trying to convince Damon to make a cameo appearance in "The Bourne Legacy," the two actors ended up discussing how they'd like to work together on a future project.

"I want to work with him, actually. That's what we talked about mostly, just sort of, maybe getting to work together somehow, some way, something," Renner said.

So what would the potential movie be about? Renner was stumped. "I don't know, maybe ... I have no idea what it would be. Transvestite cops? Play some tranny detectives? You want to see me in a onesie and jumpsuit?" he asked with a laugh.

Even though Damon and Renner are friends in real life, don't expect their onscreen characters to be very similar. Renner revealed that his "Bourne" character, Aaron Cross, will have some similarities to Jason Bourne but will also have his own story.

"There's similarities and then there's differences," he said of Cross's relationship to Bourne. "I can't get into what those are because it gives away plot points and I don't want to spoil anything for anybody. But I think the picture will stay congruent enough with the franchise that Matt has been in charge of, and now I hope to make the fans happy and take them on another little road."

Charlize Theron Teases Kristen Stewart 'Showdown'

'I'm just really, really, really hoping I get to kill her,' the 'Snow White and the Huntsman' star jokes to MTV News.

Ever since the trailer arrived for Kristen Stewart's next likely blockbuster, "Snow White and the Huntsman" -- a.k.a. her first big post-"Twilight" movie -- we've been chomping at the bit for more info about the film.

Luckily, MTV News had a fun-filled chat recently with Stewart's "Huntsman" co-star Charlize Theron, during which the South African-born beauty revealed that she and Stewart are about to shoot the film's climactic battle sequence.

"I'm still shooting ['Huntsman'], I'm going back in two days," Theron told us as she promoted the comedy "Young Adult." "I haven't really worked with [Kristen]. I've done some small things with her, but we're about to shoot our big showdown, and fingers crossed for me. It's the big battle. I'm just really, really, really hoping I get to kill her," she said with a smile. "That is how the story ends up, right?"

While the Rupert Sanders-directed flick is a new adaptation of the classic fairy tale, somehow we don't think Theron will get her wish. Maybe her Evil Queen will wound Stewart's Snow White in some way, but death doesn't seem too likely.

For her part, Stewart has had nothing but praise to heap on the film -- so much so that she's open to the idea of doing more than one movie as the fairest one of all.

"Oh, man, to be totally candid and honest with you, when I first signed on to this thing, the idea of doing another franchise was like, 'Wow, [we'll] cross that bridge when it comes.' It was something so far outside my realm of thinking," Stewart told us recently. "I was so focused on the first one, and I thought, 'Maybe, maybe,' but I've got stars in my eyes. I'm literally over the moon about what I'm doing right now," she said of her work on "Huntsman." "Yes, I would love to [do more 'Snow White' films]."

Conrad Murray Sentence 'Not Enough,' MJ Fans Say

But other Michael Jackson supporters outside L.A. courthouse tell MTV News 'justice has been served.'
By Katie Byrne, with reporting by Vanessa White Wolf

LOS ANGELES — During the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's fans have been as much a fixture at the courthouse as the Jackson family. When Murray was sentenced to four years in jail Tuesday (November 29), MTV News spoke with those loyal fans outside the court to see if the maximum sentence was an apt punishment.

"Four years — not enough, but at least something," said one fan, sporting a red jacket in tribute to MJ. "And where I come from, a little something is always better than nothing."

One pair of friends might have been wearing matching Thriller T-shirts, but their opinions on Murray's sentence certainly didn't match. "If four years is the maximum and he got the maximum — I know she's not happy, but I'm happy," one of the women said, gesturing to her less-than-pleased companion. "I feel like justice was served and that L.A. can now be proud and stand tall."

"It's better than nothing, but it's not even close to justice," said another fan, wearing Jackson's trademark fedora and sequined glove. "Not only was [Murray] negligent; he let the man die. It's unconscionable. He didn't even try. How would a heart doctor not know how to give CPR? It's insane."

The cardiologist, who was found guilty of one felony count of involuntary manslaughter November 7, was facing up to four years in state prison in the death of the pop icon, but due to recent changes to alleviate overcrowding in California prisons, the judge in the case said he was unable to send the doctor to state prison for his crime. On top of that, legal expert Mike Cavalluzzi told MTV News that Murray will likely serve less than half of his four-year sentence.

Those legal loopholes concerned a female fan outside the courthouse, but she was also happy that the maximum punishment was doled out.

"The only thing I'm worried about now, with the overcrowding of the jails, he might get one year and house arrest," she told MTV News. "I'm just hoping it'll be four years, that's what I'm praying. I'm just glad that justice has been served today, and I'm glad justice can be served to the family and to the fans, and everybody around today will be happy and celebrate that justice has been served. And I'm sure Michael's looking from heaven right now."

Birdman Boasts Of YMCMB 'Family Atmosphere' In 'Y.U. Mad' Video

'We're unified,' Birdman tells MTV News of clip featuring Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne.
By Rob Markman

Birdman has every reason to smile, and in his latest video, for "Y.U. Mad," the #1 Stunna puts his diamond-encrusted grill on full display. Not only is his YMCMB record label the biggest rap label of the year thanks to high-profile releases from Lil Wayne and Drake, but the camaraderie displayed in his new clip, which premiered on MTV2 on Sunday, is very real — both on and off camera.

"We like this with each other on an everyday basis. It's just fortunate that it's a video and they get to see it in that way," Birdman told MTV News from his trailer on set of the "Y.U. Mad" video shoot in Miami back in October. "It's a family atmosphere, and we talk a lot and we work a lot, and when it comes down to the music, we do it together, we're unified. It's what Lil Wayne and Birdman and Young Money, Cash Money all about — working as a team."

The proof is in the Gil Green-directed video off Birdman's upcoming solo LP Bigga Than Life. Nicki Minaj sets things off, in character as "The Female Weezy." Dressed in a white wifebeater, camouflage pants, skater sneakers and a blond dreadlocked wig, Nicki embodies Lil Wayne's persona as she prances on the screen rapping her verse.

It wouldn't be a Birdman video if the #1 Stunna didn't flaunt his wealth. In one scene, Baby rides around M-I-A in a white convertible Mercedes Maybach, in another he sits with YMCMB execs Mack Maine and Cortez Bryant at a long dining table littered with vodka bottles and exuberant amounts of cash.

Still, it's the ear-to-ear grins that make "Y.U. Mad" stand out from previous Birdman videos like "Fire Flame" and "Always Strapped." Wayne may have had the most fun on set, rocking a high-top, red fur hat, colorful shorts and a backpack containing his skateboard.

The song was originally something that Nicki was working on but then gave to Birdman in order to keep it in the family. From the first listen, the Cash Money CEO was in love with what is now his latest single. "I liked it from the start," he said. "Working with Nicki is just special anyway. It was something she gave me and I felt good about it so we rocked with it." And apparently they had a blast doing it.

'Hugo' Director Martin Scorsese Speaks On His Productivity, Legacy

'One tries to do the best you can with each picture, hopefully continue making them,' renowned filmmaker tells us.
By Kara Warner with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Martin Scorsese's career is one of such significance and acclaim that the Oscar-winning director could retire from the business right now, knowing that his living-legend status would remain intact. It is clear he has no plans to slow down, however, due to the fact that in the last year alone, he's been involved in five feature film and documentary projects, the most recent being his first family-oriented film, the critically acclaimed "Hugo."

When MTV News caught up with Scorsese recently, we asked him to explain the secrets behind his productivity. "There seems to be a sort of urgency, an interest in making comments on certain aspects of life and the world around me, the people, culture today," Scorsese said when asked if he's working under his own self-imposed deadlines or urgency to complete projects. "Whether it's trying to deal with how art inspires a young person — and that is 'A Letter to Elia' — or trying to create a spectacle of American enterprise and corruption as [with] Terry Winter and his show that I'm working on with him, 'Boardwalk Empire,' or people speaking their minds and very strong opinions, like Fran Lebowitz in 'Public Speaking,' but even more so was working for five or six years on 'George Harrison: Living in the Material World,' with David Tedeschi. That is interesting because that was finished at the same time as 'Hugo.' Those five projects were finally released all within one year."

We then asked if with this sudden urgency, Scorsese is conscious or concerned with preserving his legacy as a filmmaker.

"Not really, maybe I [was] at one point," he admitted. "I'm not quite sure anymore. I don't really know. I think at one point in the early '90s, there seemed to be a lot of films being made here in America and in China and around the world that had been inspired by 'Mean Streets' ... that may still be the case that may not be the case, I don't know anymore. One tries not to think of that. One tries to do the best you can with each picture, hopefully continue making them and that they mean something, that they matter to people."

Yelawolf Promises 'Let's Roll' Video Will Be 'Magic'

Radioactive MC recruits Kid Rock and DJ Kool Herc for clip.

Yelawolf might rep Gadsden, Alabama, to the fullest, but for his next music video, Catfish Billy takes a pilgrimage to hip-hop's birthplace. For "Let's Roll," the next single off his debut LP, Radioactive, Yela hooks up with Kid Rock and hip-hop's inventor DJ Kool Herc for a ride through the Bronx, New York.

"We had the godfather, Kool Herc, come out and do a cameo — it's pretty incredible," Yela told MTV News while on set last week. "The director had the brilliant idea of bringing us to the Bronx, the home of hip-hop, where it was born, and it just made it mean so much more to me. I was like, 'Ahh, that's perfect.' "

While coming up in the rap game, Wolf has differentiated himself, playing up not only his southern roots, but the fact that he's a white rapper who at times looks more punk rock than hip-hop. But being from Gadsden doesn't make him any less authentic. In fact, in the "Let's Roll" clip, Wolf brings a trailer-park vibe to the Boogie Down Bronx.

"For me, being from Alabama, what hip-hop has given to me, bringing it back here and the blessing of it and just having Kool Herc out here, it's magic," Yela reflected.

When it's all said and done, Yelawolf expects the video will help define his career. "It's just one of those days that things came together the way they came together, and it'll be a pivotal video in my career," he said. "I know it's gonna really open up a huge door and open a lot of people up to the music."

Daniel Radcliffe: Actor We're Most Thankful For In 2011

'Harry Potter' star refers to 2011 as 'not a breakout year, a breakaway year.'
By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Daniel Radcliffe
Photo: MTV News

After our nods to rising stars Elizabeth Olsen, Michael Fassbender and Tom Hiddleston, MTV Movies' Thankful Week continues with — drum roll, please — the actor we're most thankful for in 2011: Daniel Radcliffe.

Really, what's not to like about this talented young man? He's dazzled audiences for more than a decade as "the boy who lived" in eight "Harry Potter" films and has most recently been the talk of the Great White Way with his critically acclaimed work in the musical "How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying." We feel pretty confident in saying that the future looks bright for this guy.

MTV News recently caught up with Radcliffe to get a sense of how he's feeling post-Potter and where he wants to be in 10 years.

MTV: This is your first full year working outside "Harry Potter." How has it been?

Daniel Radcliffe: It's been a great first year away from "Potter." It's been very successful. I've done some work I'm really proud of in that time, particularly onstage in "How to Succeed." Just the process of doing it and doing it and doing it, I've got so much better, I think, during the run, as is the way it should be. It's been a great year, but I think next year is the big one for me. "The Woman in Black" is coming out, and I've also got a couple other things I'll be doing. The next two or three years are going to be pretty important, I think, and if [2011] is not a breakout year, it's a breakaway year.

MTV : What was the highlight for you this year?

Radcliffe: [Performing at] the Tony Awards, definitely. We were the first show to perform, and there is just that weird moment when you're all standing there. I haven't been that nervous in a long time. I don't think I was as nervous on our opening night as I was at the Tonys. I was really, really nervous. Suddenly that huge LED screen goes up, and you're all revealed like prizes on a game show, and Al Pacino is in the front row, sitting next to Bobby Cannavale, sitting next to Mark Rylance, all these brilliant actors, and you have to do your number. That's probably a surreal, weird triumphant moment of that year, performing on the Tonys. That's pretty cool. That's something I will be able to tell my grandchildren that I did.

MTV : What have you learned about yourself and your work abilities?

Radcliffe: I think the most vital thing I've learned — and this is a thing I have to adapt and be able to find throughout my career, be it onstage or film in comedy or drama — is that the more I try and suppress my own natural oddness, the less successful I am. I have a slightly staccato way of moving and talking ... the realization hit me that I'm working so hard to try and be something else, and actually, I just have to learn to be my most natural self onstage or onscreen, however that comes across. That is one of the biggest lessons there is: Don't shy away from your own weirdness. Own your oddness.

MTV : Would you consider taking a role in a movie musical?

Radcliffe: Yeah, definitely. My hesitation about doing this one ["How to Succeed"] is that I've played parts for a long time, and I'll have spent a long time with this, and I want my career to be about getting as many different characters under my belt as I possibly can. But yeah, I would love to, provided it was the right one, because they can go wrong. They can go spectacularly wrong, so we'll see.

MTV : Looking back at "Potter" and going through the huge promotional push surrounding the final film, was any of that surprising in any way even though you'd been through it so many times before?

Radcliffe: It's always what it is. I have a slight tendency when you're doing these insane press days where you do a few interviews then the red carpet and it's just mad, I have a slight tendency to shut down and go on autopilot just to get through it and not feel completely weirded out by the whole thing. What was strange to me was, in a way I felt slightly bad because I wasn't getting upset like everyone else was. I've seen Rupert Grint cry once, on the last day of filming, when I was also in bits, but I've never seen Rupert get emotional like he did at the premiere ... I cannot go on enough about how much I loved my time on "Potter." It was the most amazing, happy time, but all good things must come to an end. We couldn't have gone on forever. As much as people wanted us to, it would have been terrible. I'm glad to have done it and gone out on such a high note and now be moving on as we all are.

MTV : Do you hope you'll continue to have a relationship with J.K. Rowling?

Radcliffe: I hope so, yeah, I really hope so. For somebody that was indirectly and directly such a huge influence on my life, I really hope so. I don't know if she's going to write anything else about Harry, but maybe I could direct something in years to come or something; we know each other.

MTV : Looking ahead 10 years, what do you hope to be doing, best and worst case scenario?

Radcliffe: My worst nightmare is that in 10 years, I will be not working and not doing anything. Even if in five years time I decide to leave the film industry and go off and become an archaeologist, even if I'm doing that, that's great, fine. Best-case scenario is that in 10 years time, I'll have got a good few films under my belt, I don't know how many that would be ... suppose we did eight "Potter" movies in 10 [years]; double that, maybe 16? Who knows. Hopefully I'll do a few films with very different parts, very different directors, and ideally, I would have liked to direct something by then; that's the ambition. I do feel having spent so much time on a film set, I would have a very good idea of how to run a film set, how to lead that set and, I don't know, I love telling stories, so I would like that as a job.

Britney Spears Video Tournament Down To Sweet 16!

'Toxic' and 'Oops! I Did It Again' sail into round two, while 'Sometimes' and 'I Wanna Go' are early casualties.

After a surprisingly tight race among the 30 Britney Spears music videos in the first round of MTV News' Britney Spears Tournament: 30 Videos for 30 Years, we are now down to 16 candidates for her best video of all time!

Perez Hilton and Jordan Miller of Britney fansite BreatheHeavy.com helped the MTV News correspondents weigh in on the first round, which saw the surprising and merciless elimination of the classic "Sometimes" and the newer hit "I Wanna Go."

"I think that 'I Wanna Go' is one of Britney's all-time best videos," Perez said of the clip, which was defeated by her even newer video for "Criminal," co-starring real-life boyfriend Jason Trawick. "I like the 'Criminal' video; I don't love it."

Meanwhile, some videos were huge leaders early on, like "Toxic," "Oops! I Did It Again," "I'm a Slave 4 U," "Me Against the Music" and early "TRL"-era hit "(You Drive Me) Crazy."

Head over to Britney30.MTV.com and vote for your favorite music video in MTV News' Britney Spears Tournament: 30 Videos for 30 Years.

The race between "Lucky" and "Boys" was a closer call than MTV News expected, with only a 7 percent margin between the two videos; "Lucky" was the eventual winner. Another interesting twist was the dark "My Prerogative" clip's triumph over the happy-go-lucky vibe of "Sometimes."

With 16 videos left, the race gets much tighter. Now, Britney's most epic and most-celebrated videos will be up against each other. "(You Drive Me) Crazy" will take on the double-pop queen-powered "Me Against the Music," featuring Madonna, while Britney's first video, " ... Baby One More Time," takes on her most recent clip, "Criminal."

"Till the World Ends" and "Piece of Me," which had byes in the first round, are no longer safe, as they are pitted against "My Prerogative" and "Hold It Against Me," respectively, in round two, which closes at 11:59 p.m. Sunday. The Elite Eight will be announced at 7 a.m. Monday. Help your favorite videos win by voting as many times as you can and campaigning.

'Breaking Dawn' Screenwriter Invited Herself To Wedding

'I was [Bella's mom] Renee's friend from California,' Melissa Rosenberg says of scripting backstory for her 'Part 1' cameo.
By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

The wedding scene from "Breaking Dawn - Part 1"
Photo: Summit

The first "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" teaser trailer, released back in June, gave fans a look at the wedding of Bella Swan and Edward Cullens. But equally interesting were the guests of honor featured in the wedding sequence, which introduced new characters like the Denali clan of vampires. But with the movie in theaters on Friday (November 18), one attendee in particular will likely have Twilighters geeking out.

"The Twilight Saga" author Stephenie Meyer made her first cameo in the series back in 2008's "Twilight," playing a restaurant patron. But the author-turned-executive producer on parts 1 and 2 of "Breaking Dawn" couldn't resist returning to the big screen so she could attend the wedding ceremony she inspired. In a blink-and-you-miss it moment, Meyer can be spotted sitting in the pews on Bella and Edward's big day. But she's not the only behind-the-scenes figure who makes a sneak appearance.

"I'm right next to her!" "Breaking Dawn" screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg recently told MTV News.

Rosenberg understands, however, if fans don't recognize her on the first viewing, because even she couldn't find her cameo at first. She admitted to jokingly telling director Bill Condon that "there's one guest at the wedding who's not seen enough," until Condon added a few more frames in the movie. But when Rosenberg still couldn't spot herself among the guests, Condon took matters into his own hands.

"Finally, during one screening, he stopped and said, 'See! There you are!' " she said with a laugh. "It was Stephenie and then [producer] Wyck Godfrey and then myself and then [producer] Bill Bannerman, we were all in the same row at the wedding."

And as Meyer and Rosenberg are behind the "Twilight Saga" screenplays, it only makes sense that they took the time to come up with a backstory for their respective characters at the wedding.

"Stephenie was married to Wyck, and I was [Bella's mom] Renee's friend from California," Rosenberg explained. It sounds like there's a fan-fiction to be written about the time between Meyer's diner dinner and when she got invited to the Cullen wedding!"

Will 'Breaking Dawn' R-Rated Sex Scene Make The DVD?

Director Bill Condon 'went for it' on too-hot-for-PG-13 version of the honeymoon, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg tells MTV News.
By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

"Twilight" fans should know by now that the original sex scene filmed for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" was a lot steamier than the version that made the final cut. The MPAA said the film would need an R rating if director Bill Condon didn't cut out some of the "thrusting."

Needless to say, he did, and "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" currently reigns atop the box office with a PG-13 rating. But screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg admitted to MTV News that she wished the raunchier cut had made it to the big screen.

"Bill, he went for it," Rosenberg said with a laugh when she recently spoke to MTV News. "I wanted to keep [the footage]."

Though all the bumping and grinding didn't make it to the final cut of the film, Rosenberg is crossing her fingers that a lot of the footage will make it to the DVD. So everyone out there hoping that some of the more explicit parts of that sex scene will one day be released for public consumption, you just might be in luck.

That's not the only scene that got chopped from the final cut of the movie, though. Rosenberg said there was a sequence before Bella and Edward's wedding that also got the ax because it was slowing down the rest of the movie.

"There was a whole section before the wedding with Charlie, Renee and Carlisle and Edward, kind of a back-and-forth, but it just slowed everything down. But there are some nice things in there," she said.

To calm fans who might be upset about missing that interaction, Rosenberg added, "But again, these are things that will show up someday."

Justin Bieber And Boyz II Men Unwrap 'Fa La La' Video

Black-and-white video showcases Bieber's heartfelt singing with his idols.

Christmas is right around the corner, but the Biebs is already in the holiday spirit. On Wednesday (November 23), Justin Bieber dropped the video for "Fa La La" with Boyz II Men. There are no reindeer or presents under the tree; instead, Justin and the Philadelphia R&B outfit sing of a warm love that will endure through the holiday season.

The black-and-white clip begins in an empty loft, where Bieber sings alone, with his arms flailing and face slightly scrunching every time he hits those heartfelt notes. Justin's solo intro leads way to a collaborative bridge, where Boyz II Men join in. "Baby you de-serve eve-ry-thing you want/ It's your night," they all sing in harmony as the "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye" vocalists join the teenage star in song on the front porch of a brick house.

No elaborate set needed. With an empty city as their backdrop, the four crooners throw down in an old-fashioned sing-off. As the track builds, BIIM's Wanya Morris really gets into it, pounding his chest and kicking one leg up to accentuate his performance. Bieber, who is dressed in a white tee and slim-cut leather jacket, tugs on his collar to let you just how much his words mean to him.

On November 1, Bieber teased the clip when he tweeted, "Killed it with @BoyzIImen on DWTS and then just shot a video for our song #FALALA with @colintilley - great night! living a dream. Thanku," in reference to his appearance on "Dancing With The Stars" and the Colin Tilley-directed "Fa La La" video.

Maybe some of Boyz II Men's subject matter was a bit mature for the pint-size Bieber, but they influenced him nonetheless. "He told us his mom didn't want him to sing 'I'll Make Love to You,' so he'd sneak and go sing it somewhere," Wanya Morris told MTV News. "It's also good to know we've influenced such a good artist. It's something that makes us feel we've accomplished [something and] we're doing our job, [that] a guy so young and so into his craft [is] influenced by three guys from Philadelphia that love to sing."

Yes, "Fa La La" is the latest single from JB's holiday LP, Under the Mistletoe, but Tilley and company didn't overload the video with Christmas themes as to so implicitly tie it to December 25 -- after all, true love should last all year 'round.

What do you think of the video? Let us know in the comments!

Sienna Miller Testifies In Hacking Case Against The News Of The World

Actress Sienna Miller, along with Harry Potter novelist J.K. Rowling, testified in a UK court this past Thursday about the hacking case that had Miller so paranoid, she accused her close friends and family of leaking stories to the media, as well as personal information. Get the full details below. Making her way to London’s Royal Courts of Justice this past week, Sienna Miller attended a hearing, testifying about being harassed, followed, and having her privacy violated by the employees at News of the World. The ?Alfie? actress, who is taking the news outlet to court for hacking into her phone, and much more, explained that the journalists and editors of the notorious outlet made her feel “very violated and very paranoid and anxious, constantly. I felt like I was living in some sort of video game,” she shared. The actress, who previously dated actor Jude Law, has been pursued for most of her time in the spotlight. “For a number of years I was relentlessly pursued by 10 to 15 men, almost daily,” she said, even being “spat at,? and ?verbally abused. I would often find myself, at the age of 21, at midnight, running down a dark street [...]

Pet Tags

Man, I'm so irritated.

I just received four pets tags that I ordered for Bev and Mary Margaret (two for Brooklyn and two for LA) and they're all messed up. Not only did they leave off the "Margaret" on Mary Margaret's tags, but the text isn't centered correctly and runs off the right side on all four of them. (The last letter of the address is cut in half.) The tags themselves are also ugly. The edges aren't smoothed out... they look like someone just cut them from a piece of sheet metal and called it a day.

So anyway, I got them this morning on my way to Starbucks (yesterday's mail), so while I was there, I started drafting a strongly-worded letter in my head, like what I was going to say to these people when I sent them back.

And then I saw it.

In tiny print on the bottom of the invoice it said, "Our handicapped employees appreciate your order."

So now I can't send them back. If I did I'd be a total asshole.

I'm just going to order new ones from someplace else. Any recommendations?

Chris Brown Buys Mansion Near Rihanna's Home

R&B star's new Hollywood bachelor pad is just miles away from his ex's house, which she recently put up for sale.

After a successful year on the charts, Chris Brown has decided to make some more noise, this time on the real estate market. Radar Online is reporting that Brown has snatched up a mansion in the Hollywood Hills for a cool $1.5 million. The price tag on the home is not the only eye-opening detail: When Brown moves in, he'll be just miles away from his ex Rihanna.

According to listings site Zillow.com, Brown's new digs went on the market back in 2009 for $2.6 million but dropped by over $1 million by the time the singer snatched it up in October.

Brown's new home is eight miles from Rihanna's front door. But they won't be so close for long. She recently put her eight-bedroom Beverly Crest home on the market for $4.5 million, which, according to real estate site Blockshopper.com, is far above the average $1.35 million asking price for homes in her neighborhood.

Brown had been on the search for a new location since the spring, when, according to Radar, residents in his West Hollywood community complained about his loud lifestyle.

Those complaints might have been a blessing as they opened the door for Brown to score a major deal on the market with the mansion's reduced price tag. The three-bedroom, three-bathroom bachelor pad is listed at 2473 square feet and, according to The Daily Mail, includes an elevator to go along with its outdoor pool, sleek modern patio and living room with two stories of windows.

Chris Brown rocked the American Music Awards on Sunday night. Watch his performance!

AWOLNATION Call Debut Album 'Genre-Less'

'I feel lucky to be a songwriter that has an open mind to all different kinds of music,' frontman Aaron Bruno says of Megalithic Symphony.
By Rya Backer

AWOLNATION's Aaron Bruno
Photo: MTV News

AWOLNATION may be a play on frontman Aaron Bruno's childhood nickname, but according to him, it's far from a solo project.

"It's my vision, I suppose, but it's sort of uncomfortable for me to take full responsibility for it, because nothing is possible without the support of a team of people," said Bruno, formerly of such rock acts as Under the Influence of Giants and Hometown Hero.

Still, he remains instrumental in crafting the style-bending and -defying melodies, hooks and choruses featured throughout the group's debut album, Megalithic Symphony (listen to his singles, "Not Your Fault" and "Sail," for perfect takes on pop-punk and prog industrial, respectively).

"I feel lucky to be a songwriter that has an open mind to all different kinds of music," Bruno said. "So I think because of that, I was able to make a record that is genre-less, and I'm very proud to not be able to tell you that it's an alternative record or only a rock record, et cetera. ... I'm just a huge music nerd/fan at the end of the day."

But how did they come up with that name? "I went with the name AWOL, because I've always enjoyed the option of leaving social circumstances without having to explain myself," Bruno said. Less straightforward, however, is Bruno's songwriting. "It's important to me that people interpret the lyrics and the concept and the message for their own and not read too much into it literally. Because a lot of the lyrics are metaphors for life situations that I've been in, and I encourage people to create their own meaning for it out of it all."

Regardless of how the songs are taken in, Bruno is sincere in hoping whatever message is delivered holds meaning to the listener. His one great hope for Megalithic Symphony? "Hopefully this record that I've made helps people through the struggles of life or helps them through the good times."

Tom Hiddleston Has A Banner Year With 'Avengers,' 'Thor'

With five releases in 2011, Brit even made time for a Woody Allen movie, and he talks about it all in MTV News' Thankful Week.
By Kara Warner with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Tom Hiddleston

To say that 2011 has been a banner year for relative newcomer Tom Hiddleston would be a serious understatement. If you didn't see him beginning to discover his mischievous roots as Loki in "Thor," you may have caught him in "Midnight in Paris" as F. Scott Fitzgerald, or noticed his name and/or face in trailers and posters for the upcoming dramas "War Horse" and "The Deep Blue Sea." Not to mention all the attention paid to the filming of his villainous role in next year's surefire summer smash "The Avengers."

It's been a banner year indeed for Hiddleston, and from the looks of things, the very talented and delightfully disarmingly charming Englishman is just getting started. It should therefore come as no surprise to see that Tom Hiddleston is one of the actors for whom we're most thankful this year.

MTV News recently caught up with the 30-year-old to discuss his big year, what he is most thankful for and what the future has in store for him.

MTV: With "Thor," "Midnight in Paris," "War Horse" and "The Avengers," this has been an amazing year for you, yes?

Tom Hiddleston: Yeah, it has been amazing. Amazing that I was even remotely considered for any of those roles. Amazing that I got them, and amazing that they turned into the films that they turned into. It's hard enough to make a film ... God knows anyone involved in the business, no one ever sets out to make a bad one. I've just been so very lucky. I've worked with some incredibly talented people whose chances of making a bad film are certainly slimmer, but they're all extraordinary films in their own right.

MTV: Looking back at the start of your career, is this the kind of success you wanted?

Hiddleston: Oh yeah, but you dare not dream about it, you dare not dream. Sometimes to dream it, you think, almost, you kill the dream by trying to conceive it in your imagination. So my way, my process of making my way in the world is to put one foot in front of the other, accept each job for its own merits and that will lead to whatever it will lead to. And suddenly you're doing five films in one year and they're all awesome.

MTV: In the spirit of being one of the actors for whom we're most thankful, what are you thankful for this year?

Hiddleston: I can't believe you're thankful for me! I am so beyond proud. I am thankful for so much. I am thankful for the things I hope I never take for granted: the love and support of my family, for my friends and their successes, and for the fact that life is generally pretty damn amazing if you let it be. I'm thankful for the fact that I can sleep on planes. ... I know many people can't. ... I am thankful for my Nike "Flywire" red-stripe/ white-tick running shoes. ... I'm thankful for my iPod Shuffle too and the music that propels me round these wonderful places. Come to think of it, I am thankful that I can run at all. There is nothing like the feeling of health: mens sana in corpore sano (a sound mind in a healthy body). I only realized that fully when I hit my late 20s. I am thankful that I made it to 30 in one piece! Thankful for my 30th birthday party, which was incredible and featured the greatest dance-off between my friends that I have ever seen. The dance floor was the star. It was raised up like a stage and had flashing lights underneath it like a cross between the sidewalk in Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" and the floor in "Saturday Night Fever." ... I'm thankful for the new album by Bon Iver, which I've just seen is the most played music in my iTunes Library. I am thankful for some incredible movies. My top five for 2011 are, in no particular order: "The Tree of Life," "Warrior," "Drive," "Bridesmaids" and "The Help." But I also haven't seen a lot of the most talked-about yet: "Shame," "The Descendants," "The Artist," "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close." I'm looking forward to all of those enormously.

MTV: How would you summarize this last year for you, career-wise? What kind of recognition are you now getting that you might not have had before?

Hiddleston: It has been an extraordinary year. Quite literally out of the ordinary. If the 30 years leading up to this one could be classified as "ordinary," this one definitely has the "extra" on the front. ... I feel incredibly fortunate: fortunate to have worked with some of the greatest directors alive and working today; fortunate to have been in films that have affected people and ignited in their imagination; fortunate to have played such a diverse range of roles across such different projects. I have shuffled in the shoes of Scott Fitzgerald, filled the boots of a First World War cavalry captain, fallen in and out of love with Rachel Weisz and run riot (twice) as the chaos-craving comic-book mischief-maker himself. I couldn't have dreamed it better. ... In terms of what I get now that I might not have gotten before: letters! I have received letters written with such passion and fervor that they reinvigorate and reinspire me to get back to work. An actor is not an actor without an audience. And if the audience is moved and inspired, as some have beautifully expressed that they have been in their writing, then I find that more meaningful than anything in the world. But I can still walk down the street to buy bananas without getting recognized, if that's what you mean.

MTV: What's next? Where do you go from here?

Hiddleston: At the moment, I am playing Prince Hal in Shakespeare's "Henry IV" part 1 and part 2, and Henry V in "Henry V." Hal was a drunken rebel, and Henry V was the greatest warrior king of England, and the fun part is that they're the same man. It's a great character arc. We are shooting the three plays as three separate films for BBC and NBCUniversal, directed by Richard Eyre and Thea Sharrock, and produced by Sam Mendes' Neal Street Productions. They'll be on TV at the same time as the broadcast of the London Olympics. It's mud, blood and warrior poetry for me. Back to my roots. "The Avengers" is released on May 4, 2012, which is, um ... exciting! And then Chris Hemsworth and I will beam back up to Asgard for "Thor 2." The rest is a blank page. Just the way I like it. The surprises are the best part.

Jenny McCarthy Looking For Love On The Internet

On Sunday at the American Music Awards, Jenny McCarthy commented that her next search for love could come from an online dating site like Match.com. Jenny who once was Miss October in 1993 for Playboy also once dated actor Jim Carrey. Jenny expressed that her online profile would not be obvious and would not reveal personal data so that it could be easily identified. One clue for McCarthy’s profile is that she did check on the site that she is interested in men between 35 to 48 years old. In the past, Jenny has expressed that she just can’t find the right man in Los Angeles. What is Jenny’s dream man like? Well first of all he must be sweet, must have a job so that he can buy dinners etc., she doesn’t care if he is bald or has a big nose, he doesn’t have to be famous. In fact, Jenny prefers if they are not famous. She believes that it is harder if two people are famous to maintain a relationship under a microscope. Recently, Jenny commented on the break up of Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. She wished them luck and said they are both really sweet [...]

Johnny Depp 'Feels His Costumes' In 'Dark Shadows'

Costume designer Colleen Atwood takes MTV News inside the extravagant looks of Depp's Barnabas Collins.

Costume designer Colleen Atwood has dressed Johnny Depp for eight films, five of which were directed by Tim Burton. The pair's collaboration dates all the way back to 1990's "Edward Scissorhands" and continues to this day with Burton's latest flick, "Dark Shadows."

In the film, Depp plays centuries-old vampire Barnabas Collins, who is awakened in the late '60s and tries to forge a relationship with his modern descendents. Atwood recently revealed to MTV News that while Depp is most certainly involved in the costuming process, he's come to trust her enough to let her work her magic.

"Johnny's very open about what things are in the process, but he really lets people present things to him. He never really pushes at all," Atwood said. "Sometimes he doesn't even look in the mirror in his fittings. It's so funny. It's pretty amazing. People would be surprised, because I think they have this image of Johnny, because he's so stylish always, but he really feels his costumes more than looks at them, and the movement and the feeling in them is really important."

For "Shadows," Depp's vampire is of the traditional sort. Unlike the sparkling vamps of "Twilight," Barnabas cannot be exposed to sunlight. His courtship of Victoria Winters (Bella Heathcote) and his desire to keep his dark secret from her, however, forces him into the daylight. This presented a costuming issue for Atwood, who had to find interesting ways to conceal Depp's skin from sun.

"He plays a vampire who wouldn't normally go out in the daytime, but we wanted him to be able to have outings, so I did two or three different hat shapes and we tried them once he got his hair and makeup on," Atwood tells MTV News. "I also found these amazing hundred-year-old sunglasses, but they were too small ... so I took them and had them copied. And the color of the sunglasses and the color of the hat and his costume coat, which was a really dark green, is one of our favorite combos we've come up with in our work together."

The three-time Oscar winner (for "Alice in Wonderland," "Memoirs of a Geisha" and "Chicago") admits that Depp's professionalism has been key to their successful collaboration, saying, "There's a lot of trust there for both of us, so it's a nice process, because ... if he has an idea, it comes from someplace; it's not just some wanky fashion idea."

If the early photos are any indication, Atwood has outdone herself yet again. Depp's Barnabas looks simultaneously terrifying and alluring, and co-stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Chloe Moretz and Helena Bonham Carter's dark, high-style extravagance looks like a perfect fit for the Gothic world Burton has created.

Are you loving the look Atwood has created for "Dark Shadows"? Sound off in the comments below and tweet me at @JohnMitchell83 with your thoughts and suggestions for future columns!

The school year may already be in full swing, but on Wednesday, fans will get their first glimpse of Snoop Dogg and Wi Khalifa's "Mac & Devin Go to High School" film when the smoked-out duo premiere the video for "Young, Wild & Free" on MTV.

Starting at 6 a.m. ET the video will debut across MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV Hits, MTV.com and MTV Jams, where it will play every hour. Directed by Dylan Brown, "Young, Wild & Free," featuring Bruno Mars on the hook, is the first video from the official "Mac & Devin Go to High School" soundtrack.

While integrating movie scenes into music videos sometimes gets cumbersome, Dogg and Khalifa worked things out by cleverly filming the clip in a Montclair, California, drive-in theater.

"We got some more party scenes where we just gonna be doing our verses and having the scenes from the movie play on the big screen from the actual movie 'Mac & Devin Go to High School,' " Snoop told MTV News on the video set back in October. "So people get a chance to see a few scenes and see us perform at the same time."

In one particular scene, the pair race in off-road karts, with some choice video models in tow. "We just getting it crackin' in the parking lot, man, turning this thing out, so we had a couple of our little friends in the car and we drove fast," Wiz said.

"I had to level out the playing field; I had some weight issues so I had a couple of girls roll with me to level out my car," Snoop jokingly added.

The song is a carefree affair, with Mars singing, "So what we get drunk, so what we smoke weed/ We're just having fun, we don't care who sees" on the track's hook.

Keeping in tune with the single's theme, Wiz raps about rolling up and sagging his jeans while Snoop rhymes like he's 17 years old all over again. Khalifa teases that the entire soundtrack will carry a similar mood. "We got the homey Juicy J on the soundtrack, we got Curren$y on the soundtrack, but mainly it's just me and Dogg," he said. "It's a real big deal because nobody's done it like that as far as a veteran, an O.G. in the game, a pioneer, and then the newest, youngest, most exciting dude in rap coming through and really just giving the people a complete project."

"The music is quality," Snoop said.

'Breaking Dawn' Midnight Screenings Earn $30 Million

Box-office haul is enough to break series record but a far cry from all-time high set by 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.'
By Kevin P. Sullivan

Box-office analysts predicted that the returns for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" were going to be big, but now we're finally getting an idea of just how big.

The totals from Thursday's midnight showings are in, and "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" just barely broke the series record by earning $30.25 million; "Eclipse" held the previous best for the series with $30.1 million. That works out to be almost $8,600 per location just from the midnight showings.

While impressive, the midnight totals for "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" were still a far cry from the record set by "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2," which earned $43.5.

Ray Subers from Box Office Mojo expects "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" to follow the pattern set by "New Moon" in 2009 for its Friday total, which was $83 million, and then go on to earn $160 million for its total opening weekend, which would make it the second-best opening of the year and all-time, again behind "Deathly Hallows, Part 2."

Summit had originally predicted that the penultimate entry in the series could earn anywhere from $110 million to $125 million in its opening weekend. Rival studios claimed this number was purposely lower than actual expectations, which they put at more than the "New Moon" $142 million total.

To put the midnight total into perspective, Taylor Lautner's last film, "Abduction," has earned only $27.5 million in the two months since its release.

Check out everything we've got on "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1."
